🍂 Do you seem to “catch everything going around” when the seasons change?

🍂 Do your symptoms linger long after everyone else has recovered?

🍂 Do you push through when you’re sick, only to end up more drained and run down?

If you nodded yes to any of these, you’re not alone. Cold and flu season isn’t the enemy—it’s an invitation. This isn’t your average talk on addiction. We’re going deeper.

This isn’t your average talk on immunity. Together, we’ll look at:

· What your symptoms are really asking for,

· How modern life makes us more vulnerable, and

· What it means to return to rhythm without uprooting your life or isolating yourself.

At White Oak Medicine, we believe the body speaks in signals, not mistakes. Autumn invites release and recalibration, and when we learn how to honor that rhythm, we discover practical ways to feel steady—even when everyone else is “sick” around us.

Co-taught by Veronica Johnson of White Oak Medicine and Dr. Mara Sussman of Wise Body Chiropractic, this class blends rhythm medicine, holistic immune support, and practical tools you can use right away.

At White Oak Medicine, we believe true health care means understanding your whole self—not just treating symptoms. Our Health Education Series is a free, ongoing community offering designed to explore topics that support nervous system regulation, emotional wellness, and root-cause healing.

These classes are practical, approachable, and rooted in our whole-person philosophy of care. Whether you’re curious about holistic practices, looking for new tools, or just wanting to reconnect with yourself—this space is for you.

Each class is led by Veronica, FNP, PMHNP, or a featured presenter selected for their expertise and alignment with our whole-person approach. These classes bring a range of voices and perspectives to whole-person healing—part education, part experience, and always grounded in the idea that your body knows how to heal with the right support.

Classes are free and open to the public.

You don’t have to be a White Oak member to attend, and are encouraged to bring a friend.

What if cold and flu season wasn’t a problem to fight… but a rhythm to follow?
We’ve been taught to see symptoms as failures. To believe the problem is us—our weak immunity, our lack of supplements, our failure to “stay well.”

We’ve been told to push through, to medicate, to avoid getting sick at all costs.

But the truth is: your symptoms are signals pointing toward balance.

In this story-rich, seasonally grounded class, holistic nurse practitioner Veronica Johnson and chiropractor Dr. Mara Sussman will share:

🍃 Why colds and flus often surface during transitions—and what the body is really trying to do
🍃 How modern life (stress, tech, and pace) disrupts our natural immune rhythm
🍃 The role of rest, ritual, and seasonal nourishment in recalibrating health
🍃 The plant allies—like elderberry and echinacea—that support the body without suppressing its wisdom
🍃 Why fighting symptoms often backfires—and what to do instead
🍃 How to honor the invitation of the season and feel steadier when those around you are “sick”

About Your Host: Veronica Johnson, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC

Educator · Clinician · Patient Empowerment Advocate

Veronica Johnson is a dually licensed Family and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner dedicated to helping people break free from a system that prioritizes profit over true healing—and guiding them back to their own innate wisdom through holistic, root-cause care.

At White Oak Medicine, Veronica integrates functional and holistic approaches to offer a grounded path toward healing—one that centers nutrition, nervous system regulation, emotional well-being, and the power of informed choice. Her care model is relational, non-rushed, and rooted in the belief that healing happens when we feel safe, seen, and supported.

Whether through Direct Primary Care or Functional Wellness, Veronica helps people move beyond symptom management and toward true sovereignty—where nature, intuition, and body-based knowing become primary tools for lifelong well-being.

This work is about reclaiming your connection to yourself, nature, and the rhythms that make healing possible—not just for a moment, but for a lifetime.
